Growing Milk Paranoia

with my growing
paranoia about the melamine milk scare issue, i just can't help but surf all day for related articles that can help me (and those who would be able to read my posts) further widen my understanding and awareness of the issue. this has been ongoing for several weeks now and obviously, i've been very much affected.

from searching all day, i have read several relevant articles and blogs that will be very helpful (i think) so i will be posting them here. apparently, from what i've read, the melamine scandal has widened in terms of the products involved. it is found that the contaminated baby formula is not the only problem. Now it's definitely a larger picture... which includes not only milk, but other products like ice cream, yoghurt, coffee and tea drinks, candies, soup, cheese powder, confectionery such as biscuits, ready-made desserts, and chocolates, as well as any food containing milk from China have been suspected of contamination. this has lead to several bans from import in Asian countries like Singapore, Japan, Taiwan and Philippines.

look at the pictures below... aren't they yummy?!? of course they are! full of unwanted calories but they really taste good! now we can't just indulge for as much as we want... not only because we are conscious of our diet o weight... but also because we need to be cautious and check labels first before purchasing them from supermarkets, department stores, groceries, etc...

i found the list below in http://www.sciencebase.com/science-blog/melamine-contaminated-food-list.html you can also find other melamine related articles from this site. bear in mind though that this is merely to raise awareness and not to promote condemnation of any particular products mentioned:
  • Powdered baby milk.

Testing of some of those has already proven negative.
  • Melamine Found in More China-Made Products, including Heinz DHA+AA baby cereal.
  • 305 Chinese dairy-based products temporarily banned in Korea.
  • US bloggers have gone so far as to uncover dozens of products recalled in China that were still on the shelves of their local supermarkets.

this is just getting worse everyday... when will this be over??? and come to think of it, manufacturers, not only of food but other products as well like computers, fabric, shoes, clothes, etc, have built factories in China and hired Chinese workers... not that i am discriminating them but with the rate this melamine scandal is continuing to magnify, i can't help but wonder... how can they regain the trust of consumers not only in Asia but in the entire world? they have taken away 4 innocent lives and have made numerous others sick... where is this gonna lead us all?

hope i was of help in my own little ways...
