a day to go...

just a day to go before new year's eve... waaaaahhhhh! it seems like everything's happening within a blink of an eye... yes i know it sounds exaggerated... but for me, it really felt that fast!

sigh...
i really can't believe that the year 2008 just passed me by... literally and figuratively. a lot happened this year... and i really mean A LOT! below is just some of the memorable events i remember...

JANUARY. from being a back up mailbox point person, i became a mailbox officer. mainly because the the previous officers were ramped down and transferred to another program along with the other agents. i was also anticipating new tka (they kiss again) episodes uploaded weekly @ ovestream.net as the sequel had started airing in taiwan the last week of december 2007. going gaga over joe cheng's new hair cut... cuteness!!!

FEBRUARY. still finishing the mailbox backlogs left by the previous officers. in a way getting used to the tasks i've been assigned. lots of overtimes to meet the deadline of the deliverables. and as usual, i'm weekly checking on the newly uploaded TKA episodes online. just getting a lot crazier each week... so crazy over jiang zhishu!!! :)

MARCH. done with the mailbox backlog. mailbox running on a normal mode... but still, there are a lot of mailbox tasks/deliverables to accomplish. TKA is nearing its end, almost 3/4 of the series had been shown by this time. there was even a time when overstream.net was down due to system overload. the server can no longer accommodate the number of users checking/viewing the uploaded episodes. a lot of course was disappointed. INFAIRNESS -- etel libis' site GA was held in eastwood.

APRIL. the new Unused Expired policy was implemented by our HQ (American Express Incentive Services). lesser entries in the ue spreadsheet because lesser cards qualified for replacement. but as expected, there were overflowing complaints received due to the new policy. the last episode of TKA aired the last sunday of this month. i was quite saddened by this. i really wished the sequel had more episodes on it... but there was also a news that it will soon air in ABS dubbed in tagalog. currently crazy over the song "WITH YOU" by chris brown. i also got my braces taken off this month and replaced with retainers.

MAY. rumor was that TKA dubbed in tagalog will be aired by the end of may... but it wasn't. again, another disappointment. i saw the american idol teaser in Q showing david cook's version of always be my baby.. and right after that moment, i was completely under his spell! david cook rocks!!! :D

JUNE. my alma matter's centennial month. UP @ 100 years on June 18, 2008. i started feeling that everything's going on a fastforwarded mode. i started watching OneTreeHill and i was eventually hooked, for the love of chad murray... hehe :D joe cheng celebrated his 26th bday on the 19th. he was rumored to have a new series with barbie xu entitled love or bread. TKA still not aired in ABS. rudy fernandez passed away.

JULY. wu chun and calvin of farenheit visited the philippines for their romantic princess promotion. everybody was going gaga over this two guys.. and i became a fan of wu chun. :) TKA finally aired in ABS. barbie xu taken over by ariel lin in the soap love or bread. the long awaited carletz GA was finally held, again @ dampa in Libis courtesy of tl carlo. my Q2 stats qualified for promotion.. yey!!! :)

AUGUST. jamie (chiqui's daughter) @ 1 month old was baptized and i was one of the godmothers. i finished watching my dalja's spring dvd and i became a fan of lee min ki. i'm still crazy over wu chun.

SEPTEMBER. marked the start of the BER months. my granny passed away. my promotion was released. the UP pep squad were champions for the 2nd time in a row in the UAAP cheerleading competition. i turned 25 by the 29th of the month. melamine scare issue started.

OCTOBER. the scare grew larger. this milk scandal made me so paranoid that i was always checking updates online for lists of melamine positive and melamine negative products. if before i was only checking the expiration date on edible goods i buy, this time i was even checking the ingredients and where the product came from. before the month ended, we were advised that we'll be transferred to another program after we took and passed the exam. there was four of us.. chiqui, ching, jenni and me.. i felt so sad...

NOVEMBER. by the 10th of the month, we were scheduled for training for our new program. unfortunately, 1 had to be left behind as requested by our client. so the other 3 went to training earlier. i had to stay for 2 more weeks for the mailbox tasks transition. i started training only on the 24th alone and it was so frustrating because i cannot seem to understand anything from the lectures.. before this month ended, twilight began airing in cinemas and i watched the movie with a friend on the 30th. and after watching, i was completely under EDWARD CULLEN's spell.. :D

DECEMBER. the first week of this month marked my 2nd week in classroom training. so far, i've been able to cope though most of the times i'm still struggling. i was sick the first weekend and i was not able to attend the program's christmas party on the 7th. we've also started phone lab, where we're already taking in calls.. etel libis' christmas party was held on the 14th at the bmw showroom in libis. rolex also had a christmas party on the 21st at the outback restaurant in libis. i met my high school friends on the 28th for our own christmas party, we stayed overnight at bani's house in francisco and we all had a great time.

that's quite a lot don't you think? and now, we're left with just a day to go before new year's eve..

well i just hope that this new year would bring more blessings and fortune to all of us!
a new year... a new beginning.. and hopefully a good start... welcome 2009!!! :)

breakfast after work

breakfast after work... kind of weird huh?

yes, we always take our breakfast after work because we log out in the morning... for people working in the call center industry, it's just a normal thing since we work in the graveyard shift... having dinner at breakfast time is nothing extraordinary. don't you think it's weirder hearing people drink in the morning? hehehe but they really do... :D

earlier this morning, my friends and i went out for breakfast just because we're craving for pancakes... since heaven 'n eggs and pancake house are quite expensive options, we ended up eating at McDonald's. but infairness, i really love their pancakes... so soft and yummy!!!

here, take a look:

my yummy pancake with drinks and caramel sundae on the side...

the yummy fries as always!

the pancake... a closer look... drizzled with syrup and butter on top...

full package... fries, pancake and sprite. :)

but always having this kind of breakfast is still a NO NO for me...
lots of carbs and sweets... definitely lots of pounds to shed... waaaaaahhhhh!!!
unfortunately, this should be taken in moderation...

right? (^-^)v

so sick...

whew! just 10 more days to go before christmas... and i still haven't bought gifts yet... still a lousy crammer me!!! hehehe :D

see, i knew this will happen... i saw this coming... and just as i thought, it came real fast... the first time i started counting the days left before christmas was back in september when there was still more than a hundred days to go.. and days went by just like that... i have anticipated but i was still caught off guard...
now we're down to 10 days, christmas is really fast approaching...

i wasn't able to post for almost 2 weeks because i got sick the first week of december... so so sick... i had sore throat, colds and fever... yes, i barely had strength to get up from my bed for an entire day last saturday, december 6... my eyes felt so hot and my body felt very weak... literally. and i really hate feeling that way. for me, that's one of the worst feelings in this world besides rejection... because for both cases, the person is left helpless...

so where am i now? guess what? i'm on the second week of our phone lab. yes, we're already taking in calls and we're done with the 2-week classroom training. so far, i can say that i'm surviving... struggling but coping... somehow... well, there's still a lot more that i need to know... i'm still incurring errors because i'm still new (which is just normal, right?) and still learning... i still need a lot of time to get myself familiarized with all of the products we handle. totally different from what i was previously doing in rolex. the people... well, there are a lot of nice people in the program... but there are also others who are just so-so and some also annoying... not as warm and fun as the people i've been with in my previous program. maybe because i have been with them for quite a long time. so i guess only time can tell if i would be able to get along with the new people i'm currently with, perfectly and harmonously...

and hopefully, in time, everything will be fine... crossing my fingers again, as usual... :)

aja! aja!

twilight saga

i was just with a friend last night to watch the very much anticipated movie of the year... TWILIGHT... since i'm not so into books and novels, i really had no idea what this movie was all about. i was actually hesitant to watch it because i may be wasting a hundred bucks for a movie that i'm not even sure if worth watching... but because my friend was very makulet, we watched the movie as planned.

before entering the movie house, we bought 2 bmm (bacon mushroom melt) meals for take out at wendy's. then we went inside 5 minutes before the screening time for the last full show.. heehehe excited!

then the movie started... contrary to what i expected, i was up the entire film. i thought i would be dozing off but i didn't. especially when i saw edward cullen as portrayed by robert pattison... his face was so familiar, i think i've seen him several times before... then when i told my friend, she said he has been in several movies and the most famous role he got prior to this movie was being 'cedric diggory' in harry potter and the goblet of fire. wow! i knew it! he really is cedric!

from having a support role 3 years ago.. look at him now.. he's already the lead actor in the phenominal novel 'twilight' next to the hit harry potter. even though he looks so pale (as if not having a drop of blood at all), his appeal is still so astonishing! i must admit that i've fallen deeper for him... coz i've liked him when i saw him before in HP... but now... seeing him as a vampire driving a shiny silver volvo... whew! took my breath away!

then i remembered the text messages i got several times saying:
"women nowadays still dream of a fairytale ending... but what they want is not a knight on a white horse... but the vampire on a shiny silver volvo... -- edward anthony mason cullen of twilight.."

so it was him. this was the only time i knew that he was this vampire on a shiny silver volvo. the story, for me, is very romantic. i know a lot are saying that the movie was quite shallow and predictable... just another teen flick... but not for me. predictable maybe, as most love stories are. even so, i liked it a lot! maybe because i'm really into romantic love stories. i was just very touched by the thought that this handsome vampire fell in love with a mortal whom used to be their prey/food... human beings... don't you think it's a really big sacrifice to fall in love with what used to keep you alive? the blood that used to quench your thirst... i was also very impressed with how edward and his family protected her, bella, when the other vampire was so crazy to catch her. i was so moved.. he was even watching her sleep to keep her safe... awwww...

then i received another text message.. still about twilight... but focusing on edward's dialogues.. here goes:
"few reasons why a lot of girls love EDWARD ANTHONY MASON CULLEN...
a normal guy would say: i love you baby!

Edward would say: you are my life now.

as you leave the house, a normal guy would say: bye! see yah!

Edward would say: hurry back to me.

while you've gone far away, a normal guy would say: i miss you.
Edward would say: it's like you've taken half myself with you.

and if you died, a normal guy would find another. while Edward would kill himself because life without you isn't worth living.. "

well, if these were all true, who wouldn't be falling for a vampire like Edward? can you tell me? oh come on! the addiction has just begun.. and i don't care what they say, i'm in love with Edward.. harhar.. bleeding love... :D

for the last time...

for the last time... i entered the blue box ops and had my last shift in rolex last friday night, 11-21-08... everything was fine... i got to station in what used to be MY own station, the computer near the entrance and the glass wall...

for the last time, i entered my log in ID in avaya, opened my outlook and checked for mails... i checked all the spreadsheets and made sure they're updated... i also opened the rolex mailbox folder just to take a glance for the last time...

for the last time, i stood up and looked all over the blue box ops area... i can say that i was perfectly okay... just feeling a little sad as that was my last day there... even so, i was still able to laugh at jokes and smile at the people around me... i was even able to wite a farewell letter without a tear dropping from my eyes...

i finished the letter at about 9am... we met some old friends in something fishy and then went to yellow cab for tl icay's treat... even there i was laughing real hard that i almost fell down from my chair because of my colleague's jokes and stories... by the way, the pizza was so yummy! thanks tl icay! :)

then i went straight home just like my normal routine... and when i reached home, i just continued watching "wonderful life", a korean romantic comedy drama that aired in abscbn in 2005 or 2006 (i think), that i started watching last week... and while i was in the middle of watching a sad scene, i suddenly felt sad also... so so sad that i suddenly felt my tears continuously flowing down my cheeks... but i wasn't crying because of the drama... it's because of the idea that i'm no longer in rolex.. i don't know why but it suddenly hit me... i guess this the only time that it really sinked in my head... i was crying to the point that i can no longer breathe... i wanted to stop but i simply can't... good thing that i was alone in my room, no one saw... i ended up turning off my dvd player and sleeping because my eyes are already hurting...

sigh... didn't think i will be such a cry baby because of my transfer but i was... well maybe staying in a program for 3 years 1 month and 5 days would really have that effect... the countdown was finally over.. galpy of rolex has finally signed off...

my training in m&m will start tomorrow night, 11-24-08... hopefully, everything goes well though i will be training alone... alone in the sense that i don't know anybody from the class unlike chiqui, jen and ching who went to training together... now this is for real...

i'm just hoping that it would be fun and that the people would be warm and accommodating...
i really hope! fighting! aja!

false alarm...

i was suppose to start my training in m&m last night... but instead, i found myself still inside the XOR (Xmen-Omega-Rolex) blue box ops, sitting on my chair, logged on my computer station and doing my mailbox tasks...

yeah... my m&m training was postponed and my stay in rolex was extended... :)

i had to stay mainly for the smooth mailbox transition... our OM informed us last wednesday or thursday (can't clearly remember) that our client did not allow our immediate transfer and required one of the IST members to stay for 2 more weeks... to make sure that the turn over of the tasks goes well...

but this, for me, is both happy and sad...

happy because i will be staying for two more weeks in rolex... this means i still have 2 more "relaxed" weeks -- relaxed meaning i don't have to think yet of m&m.. i'm still around the people/crowd i know.. still inside the comfort zone.. not the "petiks" type of relaxation, i actually have a lot of mailbox tasks to do.. but since i've been used to it, it's lesser pressure... gets?

but this also makes me sad because this implies that i would be going to training alone... i will be attending classes and entering the room without knowing anybody from the crowd... feeling like a total stranger.. that sucks! what worries me the most is i'm not that sociable... meaning if i don't know you and you won't talk to me, i won't talk to you either... it takes me quite sometime before i completely mingle with acquaintances (people i've just met)...

and yes... i was the chosen one...
i don't know if i should be considering this as lucky or not.. a part of me says YES.. and the other part says NO... well, whatever it is, i know and i always believe that everything happens for a reason.. reason that i will know in due time... i know that He has His own plans for me... and i know that He knows what's best for me... :)

so for the mean time, let's reset the countdown to 13 days... :)

and the countdown begins...

my last week in rolex begins tonight.. but since i'm on leave today, 5 days is down to 4...

today, the sky is cloudy and droplets of rain are falling non-stop... i was suppose to wake up at about 8 am in the morning because i had to go to Quezon City hall to renew my NBI clearance for my new program... but the weather kind of disagrees with my plan for the day, i wasn't able to get up until 11am due to the cold weather... if it wasn't that important, i would just be sleeping the whole day... mainly the reason why i filed for a leave -- just to rest...

despite my laziness, i managed pulling myself out of my bed and going to QC hall for the renewal... the process didn't take that long... since i'm just renewing, i just had to pay the fee, take a photo, then after that, would be claiming already... however, i had a HIT in their records... the clerk asked me if i had finished working for 5 years in the philippines, i said "no, tatlong taon pa lang po...", then she told me that i still have a HOLD DEPARTURE ORDER... this is because of my DOST scholarship. but that should have been lifted because i was suppose to serve for 3 years only, the same period/duration that i was able to enjoy/use the scholarship... and my 3rd year in eTel (october 17) marked the end of the bond... so i'm actually not sure what happened... this is so disappointing and unexpected.. she said i'd be able to claim my clearance the earliest on 11/12... but i had to submit it tomorrow, 11/04... how lucky, huh?! after thinking that i will be able to claim it the same day... the exact opposite happened...

sigh... we should really be expecting the unexpected all the time... because they happen... they really do... especially when you least expect them... being transferred to another program this early is actually already a very unexpected thing for me...

right now... i'm feeling disappointed, sad, happy, excited, nervous, pressured, etc. yeah, you may call it mixed emotions... as it is, literally... disappointed of the delay in my NBI clearance... sad that after 3 years i would be leaving rolex... happy that i'm no longer a mailbox officer, back to being an agent, meaning lesser tasks and responsibilities... excited for the training, to meet new friends... but nervous at the same time of the certification and phone lab... pressured to finish all the due mailbox tasks and to pass the cert...

life is indeed like a box of chocolates.. you'll never know what you're gonna get.. we'll never know what's gonna hapen... we just need to grab every opportunity that comes along... so i'll be taking this as an opportunity... hopefully a good one... for career growth and movement... so help me God... :)

MnM, i guess i'll be seeing you next week.. :)

judgement day

earlier this day was when we found out the results of the exam we took in m n' m... boss roan met us at about 2 am or 3 am to tell us that 4 out of the 5 examinees passed... that's me, ching, chiqui and jenni... and we're scheduled to be transferred on november 10, 2008...

i actually don't know how i should be feeling... isn't everything happening so fast?... we were told of the new program, only on saturday morning last week... then we were scheduled to take the exam the following tuesday, at 1am... results were then out today... we're transferring soon... we barely even have time to prepare ourselves for the transfer...

i'm glad that the four of us passed... but there's one who didn't, sadly... and the result swept 3 of the mailbox members... so we had to schedule a transition for the persons in line, replacing us 3... i'm just shocked that this had to happen this early... i have been expecting that a lot of us will really be transferred this coming ramp down... but not this early... i'm used to transfers happening in january... not november...

well, i guess that's life... everything really comes to an end... and nothing lasts forever...
just like TKA (they kiss again) which will be airing last tomorrow, october 31, 2008... i will be missing my Joe Cheng aka Michael Jiang so much!!!!

so, it's closing time...
farewell rolex..

Sunflower has melamine?

Over the weekend, Hong Kong’s Center for Food Safety found 3.2 parts per million (ppm) of melamine in Sunflower Crackers Blueberry Cream Sandwich, exceeding the 2.5 ppm legal limit for melamine in food products..

because of this, there were several sunflower biscuit products subjected to melamine testing and were taken off the shelves in several supermarkets in metro manila until tests were done... luckily, all their products tested negative for melamine contamination...

Found free from melamine are: Sunflower Brand Honey Grahams (Whole Wheat), Sunflower Duo Cracker Sandwich (Peanut and Chocolate Cream), Sunflower Brand Crackers with Real Cheese, Sunflower Brand Crackers Chocolate Sandwich, Sunflower Duo Cracker Sandwich (Strawberry and Blueberry Cream), Sunflower Brand Choco n' Creme (Choco-coated Strawberry Sandwich), Sunflower Brand Cracker Onion-Garlic Flavor, and Sunflower Brand Crackers Blueberry Cream Sandwich.

Also are Sunflower Brand Crackers Lemon Cream Sandwich, Sunflower Brand Crackers Strawberry Cream Sandwich, Sunflower Brand Crackers Butter Flavor, Sunflower Brand Grahams n' Crème (Healthy Whole Wheat), Sunflower Brand Crackers Chicken Flavor, Sunflower Brand Crackers Great Original Flavor, Sunflower Brand Crackers Orange Cream Sandwich, and Sunflower Brand Crackers Mango Cream Sandwich.

lucky me! i really love eating sunflower mango and strawberry biscuits... :)
but it's kind of puzzling why tests were positive in HK... weird isn't it?

sigh.... will this ever end? i really don't know why these chinese workers and business owners had nothing in mind but quantity over quality... and why melamine of all chemicals on earth??? a chemical used for the manufacture of melawares and resistant boards, obviously, shouldn't be used for manufacture of food..

what were they thinking???

banana the wonder fruit

i've learned from college how magical bananas are, thanks to my pervert biology 12 professor... hehehe he made us read an article that discussed the wonders of the magical fruit banana.. i just can no longer remember if this was from philippine star or the inquirer. then another friend forwarded the article to me in my email, so it reminded me of sharing this to others also using my blog.. the article was entitled "GOING BANANAS"... read on, i'm sure you'll find this helpful.. and you'll never look at bananas the way you did before..

Bananas. Containing three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber, a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. Thevitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature Control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because\par
they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine, "eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!"

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is
a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around.

So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say,
"A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

yeah.. way better than an apple huh? they also say bananas may be the reason why monkeys are so happy all the time... (^-^)v

Melamine in LOTTE Koala Biscuits

i saw the news last night while i was on my way to work... sadly, reports said that another brand tested positive for melamine contamination -- the locally available popular Japanese brand LOTTE has been found tainted with the industrial chemical melamine: Lotte Strawberry Snack Koala Biscuit, Lotte B+W Koala Biscuit and Lotte Chocolate Snack Koala Biscuit.

on the contrary, 56 more products have been cleared
from melamine contamination bringing the numbers up to 166 milk and dairy products tested in total... at least there is still a brighter side, right? see updated list below:

Tested NEGATIVE for Melamine:

  • Arla Instant White Milk Powder Milex 126
  • Baby Sucker Candy (Smart Plastic Mfg.)
  • Baina Watch Milk Candy
  • Bainapie Coolmilk Bean
  • Barbie Milk Candy
  • Call and Text Candy (Smart Plastic Mfg.)
  • Chang's Chin Tai Chang Square Cookies
  • Changtai Food Lollipop Candy
  • Chaozhou-Zhancui Original Butter Scoth Classic Candy
  • Cow's Head Skimmed Milk Powder (Spray dried process)

Fourth China product has melamine--BFAD
Melamine in 2 more ‘Lotte’ products (22 other food brands safe)

OMG! when will this be over? i heard there are approximately 50 more milk products subject to melamine contamination testing... sigh...

haven't seen OREO from all the listings i've posted here and that's the brand i've been waiting to see since this milk scandal started... also, since this issue began, i've always been checking labels of all cookies, chocolates, candies, biscuits and other dairy products i consume due to my undying paranoia... unlike before, i only check the expiration date and the price (if reasonable.. haha) of the product...

now, these chocolates should be forgotten... craving would only be a waste... but this is just for the mean time... until everthing's cleared... soon... hopefully...

Joe Cheng at the SEOUL Drama Awards

Joe Cheng attended the recently held Seoul Drama Awards... this was on October 14, 2008 where he
presented an award together with the korean actress Park Chae Rim (Dalja's Spring, All About Eve, Dating Now, etc)... they were presenting the Best Leading Male and Female awards. Joe was greatly welcomed by about 500 South Korean fans and though he didn't use proper pronunciation when he greeted them in korean, a lot were still mesmerized by his charm.. haha (^-^)v

you can watch the video below (sorry, there are no english subs)...

JOE's Pepero Commercial

despite the growing melamine milk scandal, joe cheng still signed the contract and endorsed PEPERO's chocolate sticks manufactured by LOTTE. well, this brave hottie said that the milk powder used in this product has been subjected and cleared from melamine contamination before he agreed signing for the project. wearing a tight white clothing, he turns himself into a cupid and using the long chocolate stick to change into a cupid arrow, easily earned him NT $3,500,000 (whew! that's a lot huh?!).

below is an article i got from
http://udn.com/NEWS/ENTERTAINMENT/ENT2/4549777.shtml that features joe's pepero commercial:

Joe Cheng endorsing chocolate stick; Taiwan ’s LOTTE has to study a bit more

Zheng Yuan Chang has successfully invaded Korea , after getting a Korean beverage advertisement, lately he’s being picked as to endorse a chocolate stick. But the toxic milk crisis is still going on plus China ’s LOTTE’s teddy bear cookie was being tested by Macau to have Melamine in it. Zheng Y
uan Chang is taking on quite a big risk to endorse for this product. Yesterday his manager He An Li gave a hard smile and said: [When I have to release the news of him endorsing this product, everyone keeps asking me whether the cookies contain any milk powder? Is it toxic?]

In order to make everyone feeling more secure, yesterday Taiwan ’s LOTTE manufacturer has released a statement stating that all the products for Taiwan ’s LOTTE have already been tested on 29th of September and the products are free of Melamine. He An Li also said that during the toxic milk crisis and cookies, the manufacturer has took the initiative to contact them (Joe’s management company) and informed them that all the products are undergoing the testing phase. Once the tested result is out, they have also immediately notified them about it, very sincere.

Zheng Yuan Chang said, normally he only drinks black coffee and seldom eats snack so he did not suffer from the toxic milk crisis. This endorsement has left a very deep impression on him because he will turn into a cupid in the advertisement. The story plot in the advertisement is to have him leading a group of young girls to express their love bravely by aiming their arrow of love at the guy that they desire, little does he knows that in the end all the young girls are aiming their arrows at Zheng Yuan Chang, very hilarious.

i have actually seen the video in youtube. it was really funny... but i wish the commercial was a bit longer... i think it only lasted for 20seconds... sigh... i haven't had much glimpse of my joe cheng... hehehehe

though i've been so paranoid and greatly affected by the melamine scandal, i actually wouldn't mind eating this choco stick for JOE CHENG... as the saying goes, "for every rule, there's an exception" and in this case, joe's the exception... haha :P anything for him.. no questions asked... hehehe (^-^)v

Growing Milk Paranoia

with my growing
paranoia about the melamine milk scare issue, i just can't help but surf all day for related articles that can help me (and those who would be able to read my posts) further widen my understanding and awareness of the issue. this has been ongoing for several weeks now and obviously, i've been very much affected.

from searching all day, i have read several relevant articles and blogs that will be very helpful (i think) so i will be posting them here. apparently, from what i've read, the melamine scandal has widened in terms of the products involved. it is found that the contaminated baby formula is not the only problem. Now it's definitely a larger picture... which includes not only milk, but other products like ice cream, yoghurt, coffee and tea drinks, candies, soup, cheese powder, confectionery such as biscuits, ready-made desserts, and chocolates, as well as any food containing milk from China have been suspected of contamination. this has lead to several bans from import in Asian countries like Singapore, Japan, Taiwan and Philippines.

look at the pictures below... aren't they yummy?!? of course they are! full of unwanted calories but they really taste good! now we can't just indulge for as much as we want... not only because we are conscious of our diet o weight... but also because we need to be cautious and check labels first before purchasing them from supermarkets, department stores, groceries, etc...

i found the list below in http://www.sciencebase.com/science-blog/melamine-contaminated-food-list.html you can also find other melamine related articles from this site. bear in mind though that this is merely to raise awareness and not to promote condemnation of any particular products mentioned:
  • Powdered baby milk.
  • HK finds melamine in Chinese-made cheesecake.
  • Cookies With Melamine Found in Netherlands.
  • Mr Brown coffee products.
  • Manufacturing giant Unilever recalls melamine tainted tea.
  • Melamine Detected in Two More Ritz Snacks.
  • More Chinese-made sweets recalled in Japan.
  • White Rabbit brand Chinese candy contaminated: Asian health officials.
  • Lipton, Glico and Ritz the latest businesses to be affected by milk powder scandal.
  • Hong Kong finds traces of melamine in Cadbury products.
  • Recalled Melamine Milk Products include Asian versions of Bairong grape cream crackers, Dove chocolate, Dreyers cake mix, Dutch Lady candy, First Choice crackers, Kraft Oreo wafer sticks, M&Ms, Magnum ice cream, Mentos bottle yoghurt, Snickers funsize, Yili hi-cal milk, Youcan sesame snacks and others. Testing of some of those has already proven negative.
  • Melamine Found in More China-Made Products, including Heinz DHA+AA baby cereal.
  • 305 Chinese dairy-based products temporarily banned in Korea.
  • US bloggers have gone so far as to uncover dozens of products recalled in China that were still on the shelves of their local supermarkets.
  • 31 new milk powder brands found tainted.

this is just getting worse everyday... when will this be over??? and come to think of it, manufacturers, not only of food but other products as well like computers, fabric, shoes, clothes, etc, have built factories in China and hired Chinese workers... not that i am discriminating them but with the rate this melamine scandal is continuing to magnify, i can't help but wonder... how can they regain the trust of consumers not only in Asia but in the entire world? they have taken away 4 innocent lives and have made numerous others sick... where is this gonna lead us all?

hope i was of help in my own little ways...
